if you have looked around my different pottery galleries on this site, you will note that much of the pottery is bright and cheerful, colourful, and funcky, whimsical, and naive in its decoration.
There has always been a side of my personality that is effervescent, and loud and entertaining. There is also another side of my personality that is quiet, and subtle, and introspective. As I mature as a person and an artist, I find that I am not as concerned as being the 'life of the party' so to speak. I have become more interested in standing on the sidelines observing what is around me as opposed to being in the middle of it all. - This series speaks to that quieter, willing to have people come to me and explore, examine and spend time with me. The other series of pottery, colourful and bright, is what you could call surface deep. This MIDNIGHT series requires that one seek understanding below the surface.
This series includes rich blues and greens, dark browns and golds. The glazes are rich and deep and multi layered producing pottery that is both subtle and complex.
